Just heard from official sources that this years Mathew street festival has been cancelled!, the city council had done a health and safety check with a specialist company and they advised them that there was a big risk that there would be safety concerns due to the vast amount of building work in the centre, didn't they know this already!, its a unbelieveable thing to do with only a few weeks to go, thousands of people have already made arrangements to get to liverpool and the hotels will be hit hard, fortunaltly Beatle Week is still on and the festival at the Adelphi on Sunday, but I don't know what will happen to the bands booked for the outdoor gigs on Monday if they are being done elsewhere, pity they can't have the Adelphi for an extra day! I'm stunned by this news happening at such a very important time for Liverpool 800 years old and the Capitol of culture next year it's a sad day and not a good sign to the thousands of people around the world who visit each year.
